Donald Trump is at the forefront of a substantial group of Republican candidates who are striving to outperform Joe Biden or any of his less likely competitors.
“The upcoming 2024 US election is poised to make history as a substantial number of Republican candidates are vying to challenge the incumbent President, Joe Biden. In the wake of the pandemic altering the landscape of American campaigning and voting four years ago, and following the tumultuous events when thousands of rioters staged violent protests at the nation’s Capitol to contest the results of the previous election three years ago, the United States will encounter fresh challenges in conducting its democratic process.”
Here is the List of candidates participating in the primary elections, commencing in early 2024.
Who’s running for president in 2024
Republicans
Democrats
Republicans Candidates:
Nikki Haley
(Former ambassador to the United Nations)
Haley began her political career as a member of South Carolina’s general assembly and served as the state’s governor from 2011 to 2017. She cut short her second term to take on the role of the US ambassador to the United Nations under Donald Trump but later resigned in 2018. Notably, she became the first Republican to announce a candidacy against Donald Trump, despite previously stating she wouldn’t challenge him. Haley has pledged to address the US immigration system by focusing on halting illegal immigration and has expressed pro-life views, though she considers a federal abortion ban to be impractical. As the daughter of Indian immigrants, Haley would potentially make history as the first US president of Asian descent and the first woman to hold the office.
Vivek Ramaswamy
Entrepreneur and author
The biotech entrepreneur and political newcomer launched his campaign through a video, in which he addressed concerns about the “culture of free speech in America.” He also made his intentions known on Fox News during an interview with Tucker Carlson, who has since been dismissed from the network. He is known as the author of “Woke, Inc.,” a book that critiques the “ESG” framework of corporate governance, which encourages companies to consider environmental and social justice issues. Ramaswamy, who is the youngest contender in the Republican race, has advocated for raising the national voting age to 25. If elected, Ramaswamy would become the first president of Asian and Indian descent. Additionally, he has pledged to pardon Donald Trump if Trump faces federal indictments.
