SRH vs RR Dream11: Sunrisers look to strike first blow against well-rounded Rajasthan Royals
Sunrisers Hyderabad are the favorites among experts and critics for IPL 2023, and for good reason. Led by Aiden Markram, the team has a well-rounded squad. The Indian players, including Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Umran Malik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Washington Sundar, form a strong core. Additionally, the foreign players Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, provide a lot of power to the team. The return of T Natarajan from injury should also help solve the team’s problems in the death overs. Overall, SRH looks like a solid team.
TEAM PREVIEWS: SRH VS RR
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD Changes
The Sunrisers Hyderabad team had a disappointing performance in the last two IPL seasons, finishing 8th on the points table. However, they have made some major changes in the squad and coaching staff ahead of the 2023 season.
Aiden Markram, who also provides stability to the batting lineup and an extra option to bowl during the middle overs, will lead the team this time around. The addition of English middle-order batsman Harry Brook during the auctions is the team’s most exciting buy. The team also has a strong batting line-up with players like Heinrich Klaasen, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Philips, Rahul Tripathi, and Abdul Samad.
The team has retained pace sensation Umran Malik, who will be the perfect complement to the accuracy of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. The squad also has Fazalhaq Farooqi, T Natarajan, Kartik Tyagi, and Fazalhaq Farooqi to reinforce the seam attack. However, the departure of Rashid Khan has left a big void in the spin department, leaving only Mayank Markande and Adil Rashid as the full-time spinners in the squad. They lack the quality that Rashid brings to the table.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS
The Rajasthan Royals had a memorable start to their IPL journey by winning the first-ever season in 2008. Although they haven’t won the title since, they have come close on a few occasions, with the latest being the 2022 season where they narrowly missed out on the trophy.
Sanju Samson, who has been leading the team for the last two seasons, will continue to captain the side in IPL 2023. He has been the most consistent performer for the team and is also the highest run-scorer in their history. The team’s opening duo of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to provide a solid start to the innings. Jaiswal, who has been in good form in domestic cricket, will be looking to continue his good run in the IPL.
The middle-order, which struggled for consistency in the last season, has been bolstered by the addition of England Test captain Joe Root. He will bring a lot of stability to the batting unit. The team’s spin department is one of the best in the tournament, with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Adam Zampa. Their pace attack has suffered due to injuries to Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy. However, the inclusion of Jason Holder and Trent Boult will provide the necessary firepower to the bowling attack.
