Eventually, they were all bowled out for a total of 178 runs in 19.5 overs.
Before the Sunrisers Hyderabad succumbed, Cameron Green had played a pivotal role in his team’s success, scoring an unbeaten 64 runs from 40 deliveries, which included six fours and a couple of maximums. Additionally, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma provided valuable contributions to their team’s cause, scoring 38 and 37 runs respectively. In response, Marco Jansen claimed two wickets for the Mumbai Indians, conceding 43 runs in the process. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan also made significant contributions by taking a wicket each, conceding 31 and 50 runs respectively.

On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians retained Arjun Tendulkar for his second IPL match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Despite conceding 17 runs in two overs during his debut match against the Kolkata Knight Riders two days prior, Rohit Sharma decided to include him in the team with a more comprehensive strategy in mind. During the match, the 23-year-old demonstrated his skill and versatility, eventually earning his first IPL wicket. However, after an IPL graphic disclosed his bowling speed, Arjun was not spared from criticism by fans on social media.

As in the previous game against KKR, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma once again assigned Arjun Tendulkar to open the bowling attack when SRH began their chase of 193 runs on their home ground. In his first over, he was up against Harry Brook, who had already become IPL 2023’s first centurion, and although Arjun managed to bowl three dot balls, Brook hit him for a boundary through cover on the fourth ball. The 23-year-old gave away six runs in the first over. In the second over, Arjun attempted to add more variation to his bowling with slower deliveries. Despite his efforts, Rahul Tripathi managed to hit a boundary behind the square leg, bringing an end to Arjun’s spell.
Despite what his bowling speed read, Arjun shut all the talk on social media with a stunning last over where he dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar while successfully defending 20 runs in the final over to help Mumbai beat SRH by 14 runs in Hyderabad.
“Arjun has been a part of this team for three years. He understands what he wants to do. He is quite confident as well. He is clear in his plans. He is trying to swing the new ball and bowl yorkers at the death,” an elated Rohit said after the match where Mumb ai picked up their third consecutive win on the trot.
